Zarb (Instrumental) Album Review:After a series of delays AaroHs debut album, Sawaal was finally released on the 22nd of Sept 2003. The response was massive, proving to all that the demand for AaroHs music is ascending, and understandably so. AaroHolics poured into local music stores through out Pakistan to get their hands on the much-anticipated album. The sound AaroH has brought forth through Sawaal is not only awesome but has many levels and a great deal of variety. From love ballads and techno numbers to hard rock tracks, you name it; it's on this album. Commendable is the sound quality and adequate use of affects, synths and brilliant mixing. Most songs are composed and written by the band itself. And as far as music goes, Aaroh very apparently masters all aspects. The instrumental skill portrayed is unbelievable, as all band members seem to excel in several areas apart from those, which they are well known for. In addition to the superb songs, the quality of production and the innovative album cover and inlay are also commendable. Moving onto the tracks, Sawaal is a compilation of twelve breathtaking songs out of which three have been released and have proven to be highly successful singles. Sawaal is the first song of the album. Possessing depth and precision of the highest degree; this number had long before proven to be sensational. Like a number of other songs on the album, Sawaal too speaks of love. Betrayal and hurt is the theme. With a combination of electrifying guitaring, implausible vocals, amazing drumming and an awesome beat, the song presents itself as a brilliant introduction to the album. Aik Din is the next track. The song has a rather different sound to it and varies somewhat from what we have heard from AaroH in the past. Observed first off is the magnificent guitaring and astounding vocals. In addition to this, the lyrics are also exceptionally charming. Dunya is an unforgettable track with all aspects of music aligned flawlessly. Everything from vocals and guitaring right down to lyrics and drumming is literally perfect. An empowering tune and awesome affects makes Dunya a number indeed worthy of praise. Up next is an all time AaroH favorite, Jalan. For apparent reasons Jalan has been a chart topping single, as it's impressive power of music represents well the ptitude of AaroH. Aankhien follows Jalan, and is a different but equally amazing track. Appropriate use of musical resources and as usual brilliant vocals and guitaring makes this yet another brilliant addition to the track list. Following this is Hoor, an amazing instrumental by Nabeel. In this track the individuals numerous talents are done justice to. Not only is he responsible for the exquisite guitaring but the magic on the keyboard and drums is also his. An incredible portrayal of his skill, Nabeel very obviously out does himself in Hoor. A fun and energetic track called Dil Ki Baton Ko is up next. Having a fast beat, enjoyable lyrics and immaculate use of instrumental proves this as yet another successful number. Aag Ki Tarha is next and is by far one of the most beautiful tracks ever created. A soft tune and powerful guitaring and lyrics give this song a unique touch of excellence. Jiye is a powerful patriotic number. Loud vocals, unique riffs and energy set this number apart from all others. Na Kaho, being a highly impressive power ballad, had captured the hearts of avid AaroHolics long before the release of Sawaal. A guitar instrumental initially, composition and vocals by Farooq adds a lovely feel of sincere emotion and beauty. Ajnabi is the only cover included in the album. A new and improved version of a song done originally by Vital Signs, it is a deep and invariably awesome song. The twelfth and last track is yet another brilliant addition of a guitar solo with an incredible alaap on Farooqs part. Included also are lyrics written by Nabeel and spoken by Shafeeq ur Rehman. It has a haunting affect, which makes one drown in the darkness of the moment. Each song on the album has a different sound with numerous aspects to explore. Aaroh has managed to cover all musical grounds successfully. A highly recommended album, Aarohs Sawaal accelerates the ascension the bands name speaks of and steadily proves to be a grand success.

Released on 29th December, 1972, this film went on to become a musical blockbuster. Directed by Hassan Tariq (who later became Rani's husband) with music by Nisar Bazmi, in "Umrao Jaan Ada", Rani played the role of a professional dancer. Coming on the heels of the hit film, "Tehzeeb", another Hassan Tariq - Rani - Shahid effort, the same team became second time lucky with this super hit film, "Umrao Jaan Ada". This was Rani and Shahid's best film together.
1994 was a remarkable year. When Jeeva was released that year nobody suspected it to be anything more than an ordinary movie, and there was no reason to predict why it would not succumb to what had become the fate of every Pakistani movie. But somehow, something changed somewhere. Jeeva drew audience from all quarters of the society. It might have been due to a number of factors that distinguished this movie from the common lot. The lead was given to couple of brand new actors (Babar Ali and Resham), who faced the camera along with the veterans like Nadeem(in the title role), Deeba, Ghulam Mohiyuddin, Neeli and Javed Sheikh. It was the first local movie in a number of years to boast of music that could compete with the best of the current Indian cinema, and photography that could be seen as real glamour. The man behind the show was the not-so-old storywriter turned director, Syed Noor.
After 'Jugnu' opposite Dilip Kumar with Shaukat Hussain Rizvi as director, Noor Jehan along with Rizvi left for Lahore via Karachi after Partition. Together they set up Shahnoor Studios and Noor Jehan had the singular distinction of being the first woman film Director in Pakistan. Her film, 'Chan Ve' was released in 1951. An all-time favorite song from this film is Ve Mundiya Sialkotia.
With Shamim Ara at the helm, a curious title, with Nadeem & Babra Sharif, at the peak of their careers, leading the cast, needless to say this movie caused quite a bit of stir among the masses when it first came out on Eid-ul-Fitr, September 5th, 1978.
